My doctor moved into a new fancy building full of new fancy gizmos. I'm not sure if my general health was being looked after as much as my insurance was being looked after with all the tests I was given, maybe a bit of both.

Both of us have been playing lumberjacks in our backyard for the past few days with the electric chainsaws.

I've finally trimmed as much of the ficus tree in our backyard with the electric pole chainsaw that could be cut with a pole saw so I went over to Lowes and bought a Poulan 18" electric chainsaw so that we can take some of the height off the trunk. I didn't think electric chainsaws would work this well but so far it's working out much better than any gas chainsaw I've ever used. We still have about a half day of work to go.

I did manage to rip the U-verse line out of our house when a part of the tree's trunk fell on it. I hooked everything back up and everything seems to be working dispute AT&T putting some funky screws on the NID to keep homeowners out of it.

Hopefully all this tree cutting won't gives us urges for flannel shirts and lumberfucks.

Been watching episodes of Farscape for the past few weeks. We have just one more episode of season 3 to go. For some odd reason Netflix only has the first three season available for instant viewing so I've started having Netflix ship season 4 to us. I think we may go through Farscape withdrawal once we have watched all the episodes.

Tgirl Mistress Ready For Action

At first I thought it was the horrendous food from the Irish Pub that I ate Sunday night at a wedding.

But I soon realized that it wasn't food poisoning but bleach poisoning.

Last Monday I traded my services for a used Sunbeam stainless steel water cooler that dispenses hot water unlike the cold only one that we already owned.

The cooler was in perefct shape but very dirty so I had poured some bleach in it to clean it out and it seems that I didn't get all the bleach out of it before using it to make a couple of cups of tea.

Fuck did I get sick!

After I recovered enough to be able to do something besides lay in bed or sit on the toilet I put the water cooler in our shower with hot water running through it for a couple of hours with both valves held open and the maintenance valve on the bottom of the water chamber open to be sure that there was no more bleach in it.

The water out of it taste fine now but I'm still a bit apprehensive every time I drink water from it.

Now that I've recovered I'm taking advantage of our beautiful winter weather by getting caught up in yard work by doing some tree trimming with the new electric pole saw that I bought last weekend.

There is an overgrown ficus tree in our backyard that I'm trimming down to a much smaller size so that it can be easily kept trimmed.

Actually I loved our backyard when it had huge overgrown ficus trees but I discovered that ficus trees have a nasty habit of falling over in hurricanes so I'm trimming this one down to the size of a very large bush. After I trim all the smaller branches off with a pole saw I'm going to cut the trunk down to a height of around six feet (oh joy I get to spend more money on a 18" electric chain saw) and keep it trimmed into a big round bush.

Swingers Take Over Nightclub

After chasing off the rats it was shower time. So our house guest tries to take a shower in the guest room's bathroom only to find the valve stuck in cold water only mode. An hour later after shutting the water off to our house and taking the valve apart it was finally unstuck from lack of use and working again.

Also last night the new BSQ series Caprica started. They played the pilot which I already saw and wasn't that crazy about but I am looking forward to seeing what the next episode is like in a week.

We had planned on going kayaking with our house guest today but it has been kind of a crappy day with light rain and really bad humidity so instead we are doing a movie day. Another couple is coming over to join us and then we are watching Julie & Julia which has been sitting on the AppleTV for over a week. Actually we have a ton of unwatched movies and TV shows due to us watching nothing but Farscape for the past few weeks.

Three Different Alt Girls

I celebrated the warmth by running a bunch of errands on my bicycle this afternoon. It was nice being able to enjoy the outdoors again.

Now that temps are back to what is normal for winter in south Florida we are going kayaking this Sunday. We have gotten really bored with eating power bars when kayaking and are going to start packing some real food. Trouble is real food needs utensils to eat it with. So today I tried buying some camping utensils to eat with at Sports Athority but naturally they didn't have anything decent in stock so I ordered two of the KA-BAR Hobo 3-in-1 Utensils from Amazon. They won't be here in time for this weekend but at least we will have them for next time.

Finally made it to see Avatar at the IMAX Tuesday. Wow, much better than I had expected. I loved the 3D but Christy said she had trouble with getting things in focus. After the crowds have died down we are planing on seeing it again at the IMAX. Christy is hoping that by switching from wearing contacts to glasses and adjusting the 3D glasses over them she won't have an issue with getting stuff in focus.

Still dealing with home insurance blues. Now they are saying our perfectly good working A/C is too old and want me to replace it however I find myself totally unmotivated to spend $4000+ to replace something that works just fine. Anyway even if I did replace it I'm guessing that next they would say my grass isn't green enough or something.

It's so cold out and iguanas are tumbling from trees. It seems that our cute cold blooded pests can't move when it gets this cold out so are falling out of the trees that they live in. Some people are catching and eating them. I hear they taste like chicken.

I ended up at a wedding the other night. It wasn't something that I had expected to do that day. Christy's boss got married and at the last minute we both got invited. Had a great time though. Everyone was very nice and I got to meet lots of interesting people.

Probably going to spend part of today doing some house cleaning instead of going to the gym since I have zero desire to go out in this weather. A few friends asked if they could stop by later this afternoon to help us enjoy our warm fireplace. Besides cleaning house we will probably watch more episodes of Farscape. Last night we made it into season 2.

Way too cold for our macaws as well. I have their aviary wrapped in two drop clothes, two layers of Visqueen plus a blanket and put a no light heat lamp plus a 1500 watt hair drying in the cage. I was going to buy a space heater but no one has any in stock. This morning it was nice and toasty warm in the cage and all the macaws seemed happy.

Last night for a change of latitude I inflated the air mattress I bought a few days ago and made a bed in front of the fireplace. It was kind of like camping out indoors in our living room. Around 3 am we woke up when the fire had burned out due to it getting really chilly and we headed off to the bedroom to climb under a few blankets. Even with the central heat on it still feels chilly for some odd reason.

Today I'm heading over to Evenings Delight to pickup some hardwood firewood at $12 for 25 pounds or something like that. I have no idea if that is a good price or not but it's not like a lot of places sell firewood in the tropics. Not really sure how much firewood a Corvette can haul but I'll be finding out today.

We booked a room New Year's eve at a cheap motel so that we didn't have to drive home after going to a Bonfire Drum Circle / Party / Dance / Potluck New Year's eve party. It was an interesting evening of partying with an odd collection of New Age folks. It was told to me at the party that my energy is in sync or some other hippy shit after having smoke blown my way, being chased with tuning folks and crystals and repeatedly chanted at. It was fun and amusing but being a non believer in all of it I was there just there to to socialize and eat the food under a beautiful full moon and even more beautiful weather.

Today is a chilly start of the day here with temps down in the forties. Way too cold out to do anything so planning on a relaxing day of continuing to watch episodes of Farscape off of Netflix streaming now that we have decent internet and a way to watch it on our big TV.

In addition to getting Netflix streaming playing in our theater room using a Mac mini we are now also using it to enjoy Sirius Radio throughout the house.

Part of DirecTV's programing is Sirius Radio so this week I hooked up the DirecTV DVR to the Mac Mini in our den and then installed AirFoil on it so that we can stream Sirius Radio throughout the house using Airtunes. The Sirius Radio station BPM seems to be our favorite.

Snow Skiing Plus Sex

Yesterday we went up to Christy's parents place along with our bicycles in tow. After spending time with her folks having Christams dinner we went over to Okeeheelee park for a nice bike ride around the lakes. Then in the evening we went over to a nearby neighborhood to check out Christams lights with friends.

Dispite money being hideous this year this has been one of the best holidays I've had since I can remember.

Today is going to be a day of working on my online stuff and doing laundry. We would have liked to have seen Avatar sometime this weekend but it is sold out for today and tomorrow at the IMAX so I guess this weekend is going to be a weekend of vegging out on the couch and watching movies at home. It's getting chilly out so it's also a good excuse to have a fire going in the fireplace.

AT&T showed up this morning unexpectedly saying they wanted to change out the cable that got changed out Thursday with special U-Veres cable that has more shielding.

He also cleaned up the mess of old cables after I let him know that none of them were being used including the Comcast cable so now I just have one cable coming into our house. It sure looks a lot nicer no longer having 20+ years of old cables strung across my yard.

For the first time since I've had this service I'm not getting thousands of errors.

The tech seems to feel that I should be getting better speed then what I'm getting and said that the central office needed to make some adjustments now that my errors are gone that should bump my speed up even more but I've already been getting much faster speeds since the first cable change out.

Faster would naturally be better but compared to what I've been use to this is already amazing.

Christmas Eve we went on a night paddle up the Las Olas waterways with a Meetup group to check out the holiday lights. We did 8.5 miles in rather strong winds and currents with a half dozen other adventurous kayakers.

Until this paddle I had no idea the effort that the mansions along our waterways put into decorating for the holidays. There was everything from elaborate lights to complete scenes with painted backdrops and animatronics. In places even the waterways had underwater lighting. It really was amazing. If I do this again next year I'm going to be sure to bring a camera along that is both waterproof and able to do decent night photography.

Swingers Have a Foursome

So we invited a few friends over and had a very nice Christmas get together BBQ complete with warm fire in the fireplace. It was the first time in a very long time that I really felt the holiday spirit.

Today was get better internet day by having AT&T install U-Verse.

The install went pretty smoothly although the first installer had to come back to make some line adjustments after the second installer put in a trouble ticket.

I'm a little further from the whatever it is that I need to be closer to (I'm 3500 feet and 3000 feet is the max I'm told for the max speed) so I'm not getting the fastest speed but compared to what I was getting on ADSL this is screaming.

The box is HUGE that they put in. I guess this is due to it also having jacks for TV and phone that I'm not using. You would think they would have a box for VDSL only customers like me.

So far the only downside is the 2Wire 3800HGV-B Gateway that doesn't not allow loopback and can't be put in bridge mode so that I could use a different router.

So we are stuck with having to turn off wifi on our iPhones if we want to control the X10 stuff and then having to turn wifi back on to control iTunes. Other than running my own domain server behind the gateway there doesn't seem to be a workaround, at least not one that I've figured out. Maybe this is a sign that it's time to learn how to setup BIND.

Being as this is the recession holidays from hell we had very little shopping to do. Other than getting a little something for Christy's parents we aren't doing gifts this year although we did agree to buy wetsuits for each other so that we can continue kayaking and snorkeling into the winter months.

Dispite having very little shopping to do it was exhausting and all the rude people that were out just made it worse. We were in Target and this woman walked in the isle we were in and let out a big stinky fart. On top of farting customers we had to deal with obnoxious shoppers yelling, shoving and cutting in lines.

After we bought a couple of items for the parents we went looking at wetsuits. After looking at wetsuits at a bunch of places we finally ended up buying NRS Little Jane Wetsuits online because no one had anything close to what we wanted in stock plus we just didn't want to deal with anymore traffic and rude, shoving, screaming, farting customers.

It's no wonder that the online stores and killing all the brick and mortar retail stores.

Yesterday we used our new to use used bike racks from eBay and went biking in what turned out to be a very muddy park on the other side of town. The bike racks worked great although bicycling in mud wasn't all that fun. Plus after a few days of rains swarms of mosquitoes come out. Naturally today is a beautiful day now that we both have to work. I want more weekend...

Dexter last night delivered although it was a very sad ending. I was surprised how different the actor that plays Dexter looked when John Lithgow and him talked about the show after the last episode.

It seems our female cat Katrina thought our Christmas tree needed presents under it so she put a dead rat under it the other day and then came into the office meowing until I went out and looked at her gift. After I thanked her for her tasty show of love I threw the rat into the neighbor's yard that I don't like. It was a gift that keeps on giving I guess.

The used Yakima LockJaw Bike Racks that I bought off of eBay finally arrived yesterday. I thought UPS would be delivering them but it seems they were shipped via USPS wrapped in a trash bags covered in a few rolls of packing tape with no shipping label on them so I'm not even sure how they got here.

Took me about an hour to figure out how to install them on our kayak trailer since I didn't have any install instructions.

So now we can tow two kayaks and two bikes at the same time.

Still looking for wetsuits but I think we found the wetsuits that we want, NRS Ultra Farmer Jane Wetsuit. Looks like we are going to have mail order though. We are going to try going to a few more places locally this weekend although with Christy's work schedule it's really hard to make it to the stores.

Yesterday I found the cordless phone that I lost almost a month ago. I no longer have a land line so I have no use for it but it was driving me crazy as to what happened to it. I found it back behind my entertainment center and now I remember using it there when I was trying to get the phone jack back there working. I probably should put all of them on eBay.

It seems my neighborhood has been overrun by rats. I can hear them running on our roof at night. I see them in the bushes at night. I even see them running up and down the power, cable, phone lines. I talked to my neighbors and they are all over their yards too. This makes the raccoon problem we had a few years ago seem pleasant by comparison. I Googled rat in the toilet and it seems that it's rare but not that uncommon.

Now I'm dealing with the smell of death...

Dead rats, lots of stinky, smelly dead fucking rats. Our backyard smells like there is a dead body back there. Actually I guess there is a lot of dead bodies back there.

I found this huge underground rat's nest under a planter so I stuck a garden hose down the hole and when I started seeing rats coming out of another hole I blocked it with a brick. Let the hose run until everything was flooded. I guess I killed a whole lot of the little nasty fuckers because the smell of death is overwhelming now.

I wonder how long it takes for a nest of rats to rot and stop stinking?

Dispite it being cool enough to turn off the A/C I'm keeping my windows shut with the A/C on. I would guess that my neighbors are doing the same.

We put up a tree this year. It's a more modest tree then the one we put up the year before last but at least, unlike last year, we did put up a tree.

We are getting each other wetsuits for Christmas so we started shopping for them last night. So far all we have only found ones meant for diving. We want Farmer Jane ones or something good for being able to paddle in but none of the local shops have anything in stock. It's no wonder that the online retailers are killing the local retailers.

Hoping for a pleasant smelling rat free day tomorrow and maybe even some successful wetsuit shopping.

I forgot to stop on the way home from the gym yesterday to buy bird food so this morning I had an aviary full of soon to be very hungry macaws. I had thought of riding my bike over to the bird food store but then realized that it wasn't very practical to try to carry a 25 pound bag of bird seed plus whatever else I ended up buying so drove there instead. It was good thing since I ended up also buying dried corn on the cob for the squirrels plus wild bird seed for the feeder in our backyard.

This is the weather we live here for. We may have a few months of hot and sticky hell with occasional hurricanes but I soon forget all about that once our winter weather has arrived.

Been taking longer and longer bike rides as I get back into bike riding shape. Today's ride was the longest so far although short by what I do when I'm in shape. Speaking of outdoor activities... We are looking to get some light wet suits for kayaking and snorkeling in our winter months. We don't need anything too thick as the surf temps stay in the seventies here. Going to start looking around this month. I was actually thinking of looking at what surfers wear instead of what divers wear as I thought that might me more suitable for using while snorkeling from a kayak.

Actually Thanksgiving this year was one of my better Thanksgivings. The holidays are for families and this year I seem to have a family.

Last night we packed all our kayaking gear last night and then went out and bought a tree. Then this morning we went on a Lake Boca to Lake Wyman paddle Meetup paddle that actually turned into a trip out into the ocean.

We had planned up going snorkeling at Jap Rock afterwards but we couldn't find any free parking and refused to be ripped off paying $18 to park for about one hour so instead just came home.

It was too bad that the bike racks I have coming from Ebay haven't arrived yet or we could have brought our bikes with us and left the car parked where we had used the dock for our kayaks and rode our bicycles over to where we wanted to snorkel as it was only a few miles away. Bike racks should be here next week so I guess next time that is what we will do.

I said good by to having a land line this week. I've had a land line since I moved out on my own when I was a teenager so it was a bit strange not having one after all these years. It was like saying good by to an old friend.

Over the years I've had the phone that was hard wired to the wall. Then I thought it was great when they gave us phone jacks. Then just about every type of cordless phone made. For the last five or so years I've had Vonage as my land line service simringing into my cell line and have been using the house cordless phones that were connected to it less and less.

With the cell phone plan I'm on I found that I was never using my land line and having two numbers was more hassle then it was worth so today my Vonage number was ported over to my cell phone and disconnected.

I do still have a line going to my alarm system that also carries my dsl but no phones plugged into it although I do have a multifunction printer also plugged into it for those that haven't moved into the 21st century and still use faxes.

Now I've got a big pile of cordless phones now that I don't know what to do with.

Going to drag out the Christmas decorations tonight. Light a fire in the fireplace and deck out of Christmas tree.
