Finally the end of 2008. I figure that there is no where to go but up from here. At least I really hope that 2009 will be much better. 2008 wasn't all bad but for the most part it has been a sucko year.

We went over to Metro Zoo yesterday and really enjoyed ourselves. At first we almost didn't go and almost turned around half way out of our driveway feeling guilty about taking off from work but once we got there we didn't want to leave. Finally after our feet couldn't take anymore walking we were forced to hobble back to the car. I threw some pics up from it over here.

Despite having a dentist appointment on the 2nd I'm so looking forward to the 2nd and the holidays being completely over and being done with 2008. Hopefully next year will be a much better year

Noticed last night that once again a sparseimage was not growing as it should so one of the servers that I rsync to a local drive wasn't getting backed up so I'm trying out the new sparsebundle option for backing up to. Hopefully sparsebundles will grow as needed and not get stuck sometimes like sparseimages seem to do.

Still dealing with the sniffles but took my fat ass to the gym anyway. Did I mention how full and fat I feel? Unlike sparseimages my body seems to have no problems expanding.

We were going to go to the park tonight for winter solstice but it's chilly out and we both pretty much have felt like crap all day so decided against going which is rather disappointing as it is only twice a year and the last one got rained out.

I can't remember ever getting this much spam.

I always get a bunch in my email that my spam filters filter out but this month has to be a record. Sometimes I'll look in my spam folder if I haven't gotten a piece of expected email and I'm always amazed at how much of it is for Viagra or porn. Like I would have any use for Viagra or would be in need of even more porn to look at.

It isn't just email spam either. My snail mail mailbox has been getting so much that my mailbox, and I have a really large box, is often overflowing each day. At I have a use for some of this spam as it gets put on the bottom of bird cage but mostly it just fills up the recycle bin.

I've even been getting spam phone calls despite being on the no call lists.

I guess all this spam is just a sign of the times and the desperation of people trying to make a buck but mostly it just seems like a big waste of time, especially trying to sell Viagra or porn to me.

One hundred years ago today our government decided against a proposal for the U.S. government to purchase, install and operate pneumatic tubes.

Personally I think it would have been great if we had pneumatic tubes linking everything. We would have pneumatic tube pizza and sushi. Sending our cat to the vet would just involve kitty going for a wild ride. The possibilities are endless.

It's been raining all day so I haven't made it out the door to get a new toilet seat for the guest room toilet since ours broke last night. We spent all day yesterday cleaning our house until we both basically collapsed. Got all the really hard stuff done and today I've been going back and forth between working and doing more house cleaning. We the both of us working so many hours it's hard to keep up on a house this size.

We gave up trying to put a tree up this year. Every time we went over to pick up a tree something came up and we had to put it off or it was pouring rain or the tree places were closed and now it is so close to Christmas that it seems pointless but we did put up some lame decorations last night in the front yard.

We walked over, sat on the docks up the street from us, and watched the boat parade with all of the boats covered in lights along with a barge shooting off fireworks. We spent more time walking to and from it then actually watching it. There wasn't a lot of boats this year and we were freezing our asses off sitting on the dock in the wind. The huge almost full moon peaking in and out of the clouds was actually the most interesting sight.

It seems the holidays this year are mostly a bust. I guess it is due to the recession killing the holiday spirit this year. On a personally level this would probably be the first year that I truly have a happy home life and was actually really looking forward to them.

We got home and watched a movie called Shall We Dance that we both thought was very cute and enjoyable.

Tomorrow we have a big not so exciting day of house cleaning planned. With both of us working so much the house has really become in need of a deep cleaning.

Then there are the wild squirrels that I leave food for each day. The wild birds that I also leave food out for and now we seem to have a family of frogs living in the fountain in our front yard.

Christine had her graduation ceremony today so spent the day up in Boca Raton at FAU along with her parents. We all went out for a bite to eat after the ceremony. At least that was the plan when I went to bed last night.

(Still haven't figured that one out.)

My friend who I invited over gets pissed off that I'm ignoring her and storms out of here while I'm trying to calm Christine down about her pay raise. (I have a history with her but that is another story)

Never did make it over to pickup a Christmas tree but at least I made it to the gym.

Sleep like crap again last night due to this injured rib. Finally got up around 1am and took some pain meds and something to help me sleep. Wanted to try to make it to the gym and at least do some treadmill but I was too hung over from what I took last night. Today has been a good day. Besides making candles our house guest, another old stripper friend of mine, Christine and me all went out for sushi at Heart Rock Sushi. Naturally when you get a table full of old hoes the conversation gets pretty raunchy and the look on the faces of the people in the booth next to us was priceless.

Our house guest just left to go work at Solid Gold and then is flying out to California very early tomorrow morning to work for a few days and then is coming back to stay with us for a day or so. I've really been slacking on working out lately and once again I missed a gym day.

So far this winter has been unusually cool so we have actually gone through a few cartons of logs plus a bunch of real wood when we can find it. So much for global warmimg.
