Christine was on her way home from work with only one traffic light to go when a car turned in front of her. She is a bit banged up but seems ok. Her car is pretty fucked up, not sure if it is totaled or not. The other car was full of trash, beer cans, with three young guys in it. One of them had to be taken to the hospital with a head injury. The police were going through their car with rubber gloves on and wouldn't let them take anything out of the car so I'm guessing that they found something in it.

We had planned on watching Iron Man tonight, not sure if we still will or not. Both of us are pretty shook up, I'm just glad that she is ok.

I hadn't planned on digging in the dirt today but as I often do took a little break from the computer in the backyard.

It was kind of mystical being outside in a very light rain. Looking straight up at the sky I could see a rainbow just over the mango tree.

I wasn't out there very long when I decided to do just a couple of things that turned into most of the afternoon trimming bushes and weeding.

Hopefully this gardening thing isn't going to get out of control and I'll be seeking help with my gardening addiction at gardening anonymous.

Hit the gym today and then did some finally details to my backyard projects. Dug the hole deeper for the bird feeder post so that it doesn't sit so high up which makes it easier to fill. Will have to wait until we are having betting painting weather to paint everything, it's pouring out right now.

The season premier of Dexter is tonight so going to be glued to the TV to see who my favorite serial killer is going to kill next.

Spent a good part of yesterday digging in the dirt again. Now I've got two almost finished outdoor projects that I planned on finishing today but can't due to it raining today.

It did stop raining long enough for us to run over to Home Depot and get the decking to cover the cement planters that are being used on the east side of the bird cage in place of the tree that fell. Now all I have to do is paint the boards.

Hopefully the sun will come out in the next day or so and we can finish painting both projects.

Finally watched the Sex and the City movie last night. I want the 145 minutes of my life wasted back.

Watched Hairspray today. Mostly just wanted to see John Travolta in drag wearing a fat suit but found the movie surprisingly enjoyable.

Planning on hitting the gym tomorrow and then I guess I get to work my butt off seeing as I basically took today off.

I think that I'm actually excited about a TV is proof of just how mundane my life has become.

The weather people said it was going to be sunny and nice today so naturally it rained off and on most of the day. I had planned on going up on the roof to finish painting but instead I got to play with a chainsaw and remove a dead tree in the backyard that last night's storm blew over, not that I would have been able to paint anyway.

The rain makes it kind of hard, impossible actually, to finish my little painting job so I have two buckets of paint sitting on the roof waiting for dry weather.

Spent most of the day working at the computer before finally making it to Home Depot for the third fucking time in three days.

Why is it that this little home projects always end up costing way more then planned and usually involve multiple trips to Home Depot?

The worst part, aside from costing money better spent on something like shoes, is that each time I go there I end up seeing something that gives me an idea for something else around the house that I want to do.

Bought more paint and one of those paint mixer things that go in a drill plus another roller. While I was there I looked at what I would need to turn another one of these huge planters into another bench on the side of the macaw's cage.

It has been raining on and off today so waiting for better weather to finish our little painting project.

Got myself caffeinated and then went to the gym this morning.

Spent most of the afternoon working and then when the sun got low in the sky went up on the roof with my partner to paint the flat part of our roof with Silver Dollar roof paint.

Painting a flat roof seemed like it would be easy enough, just pour out some paint and use a roller to spread it around.

Naturally nothing is ever as easy as it seems. The paint was unmixed with a hard mass at the bottom of the bucket that really needed something more then using a big stick to mix it up. Not having anything except a big stick we did manage to mix the first bucket up good enough to use but on the second bucket we never did manage to get it completely mixed so tomorrow I will be going back to Home Depot to buy one of those things that you stick in a drill for mixing paint.

Also it seems that 15 gallons of paint isn't going to be enough since we got just over a third of the roof painted but only have 5 gallons left so going to be picking up another 5 gallons of paint plus another paint roller since there wasn't really anyway of cleaning the one that we used.

We both got pretty much covered in roof paint and had to scrub each other down with Goof Off in the shower which was kind of surreal.

Went to Home Depot first thing this morning for more paint and another Pygmy palm.

Also had to buy a new hose for our shower massage while there as a really freaky thing happened with it this morning. The two of us were taking a shower together and messing around a little bit with the shower massage when all of a sudden the hose got this giant bubble in it and exploded.

While I was driving to Home Depot I saw everyone's pile for bulk trash and realized that it is the 4th Monday of the month and I needed to trim the crap in the front yard.

Went to Home Depot and bought Silver Dollar roof paint to paint the flat part of our roof. They had a bunch of different ones, many cost a lot more, but this was the only one that was silver. All the others seemed to be more of a roof sealer then something to reflect the sun which is what I'm looking for. After I got home I realized that I need 5 gallons more then I bought so going back tomorrow and then going to paint the roof this week.

Also picked up some gardening stuff while I was there and spent a good part of the afternoon digging in the dirt.

Guy Finds a Dude To Bang His Wife

The utility people showed up first thing this morning and put the new utility pole in my backyard.

As soon as the workers were done a woodpecker started doing what woodpeckers do on the very top of it.

It's odd the way I can smell the pole as soon as I walk into the backyard. It's a tar like smell, very strong, reminds me of railroads for some odd reason.

I guess next the wires will get moved to it and then the old pole will get cut down. I'm going to try to get them to leave the part of the old pole that is part of my fence in place and have them cut the pole to the same hight as the fence.

It's almost that time of year again. That time of year when those that live on this part of this big spinning rock can go outside without melting. Looking forward to getting back into bike riding so ordered a phone mount for my bike this morning. Still haven't bought the new version of the iPhone with GPS but when I do the Path Tracker looks like it would be great to have.

Doctor put me on Niacin for three weeks in an attempt to get my cholesterol under control. I've been on ever increasing dosages of Statins for a few years and for the most part live on a low fat diet. My cholesterol test done on Monday came back "off the charts" he said so I'm taking Niacin for three weeks and then getting another cholesterol test.

About 15 minutes after I take Niacin I get a flushing warm effect and all of my skin turns bright red and then starts itching with a tingly feeling that feels like I rolled around in fiberglass insulation. The effects go away within an hour but it's a hell of a way to start the day.

Spent most of today mopping the floors, cleaning the kitchen, cleaning the bathrooms, and basically cleaning the entire house. I love a clean house but despise doing it.

Going to fix myself and nice warm bubble bath with Epsom salt and relax.

Been getting up before sunrise each day with my partner. She tries to let me sleep in but I'm a very light sleeper and plus I do enjoy having breakfast together.

Fucking The Spanish Chick

After years of bitching it seems that I really will be getting a new utility pole. Not something that would normally get me excited but this pole holds all the utility lines that come into our house. It's so rotted that it sways in the wind and if it was to snap it would probably rip out the part of the roof directly over where I'm sitting right now in my office typing this.

A couple of very nice men came today and hand dug the hole where the new pole is going. I'm told that the new pole will be put into place using a very large crane. I can't image how it's going to be done as there is no access from the street and it is surrounded by large trees.

Yesterday my doctor put me on a Z-pak after giving me a physical (sent me home with a stool sample kit which I find really gross) and my partner's doctor also put her on a Z-pak so now we have matching Z-paks. I wasn't felling sick at all but my partner has come down with a really nasty cold that now has gone into her chest so hopefully this will keep me from getting sick too.

Had planned on going to the gym today but then I took today's Z-pak and felt like crap from it within an hour so tomorrow I'm going to wait until going to bed to take a Z-pak.

Looks like gas prices will be going up. It's ironic that the gas I bought for Ike and never used is going be helpful due to Ike after all. I think we have enough gas to last us for about six months in both of our cars. At least if another storm doesn't come our way first. I still have horrific memories of the October hurricane named Wilma.

Had planned on a relaxing day at the beach today but Christine seems to have come down with a nasty head cold so instead hit the gym this morning and then watched a movie named Strangers in Good Company with Christine. Not really sure why I rented a movie about a bunch of old ladies lost in the woods. Didn't hate the movie but it wasn't all that entertaining either.

Had to go by BofA yesterday to drop off the huge pile of forms in order to get a key to the night drop box as I can't seem to make it to the bank during normal business hours. I never needed a key for their night drop before but my branch built a new building and now a key is needed to make night drops and they had me fill out more papers for a key then I had to in order to get a mortgage. Oddly both of us feel fine this morning although Christine does have the sniffles.

Was going to go to the gym this morning but was afraid that I would have a relapse of whatever it was that I came down with yesterday so instead spent most of the day just work although I did take a break this afternoon to watch Weeds and The Sarah Connor Chronicles off of my DVR with a friend that stopped by who had missed these episodes.

Getting ready curl up and watch a movie with my partner. We will probably going to call it an early night and get a good night's sleep.

Spent yesterday stocking up on fuel and food while most people were at work so as to avoid waiting in the long lines today. Already a lot of gas stations or out of gas I'm told by friends that tried to fill up their cars this morning although by this evening most had gas again.

A friend asked me to stop by and see why her generator wouldn't start. She left it outside in the rain for the past two years with a broken gas cap so the tank and carburetor was full of water and the whole generator was just a big rusted mess. She went generator shopping today and paid way too much for a generator. I don't get people that leave something expensive like that outside uncovered in the elements.

It's looking like IKe is going to go south of us but I've seen these storms turn unexpectedly so now we just sit and wait watching the storm track in case we need to put of the shutters.

Oddly the weather has turned beautiful, calm before the storm, so we went down to the beach this evening for pizza and took a long walk along the ocean.

Watching the triptych of nasty storms in the Atlantic. Hurricane Ike has me very worried. It's already a cat 4 with wind gusts of 180 mph. Hopefully it will turn or something but right now it is projected to be coming right at us.

DirecTV installer came this afternoon to run a second line to the Tivo in our bedroom. He replaced and properly mounted the multiplex switch that the last one left unmounted dangling in the rain and wind, ran all the wires neatly, and was polite and professional.

Never got any work done yesterday or the day before due to having a house full of friends, not a bad thing, so I've been trying to play catchup today, and failing.
