Ooo-ooo that smell, can'tcha smell that smell?
I love the smell of burning Everglades in the morning............... not. Lots of rain for a few days would be really great right about now.
The Everglades catching on fire and burning is a normal part of this season each year due to them getting dry in our dry season but some years it is much worse then others. I live next to the beach many miles from the Everglades so at least I don't have to worry about my house burning down but it is a really bad irritant making for a scratchy throat, runny eyes, and difficult to breath.
Speaking of seasons; hurricane season starts in a few weeks. This afternoon I started trimming some of the big palms that are too close to the house and a few other things too. Not a real lot to trim this year since I've been keeping up on everything the last few years. Hopefully this hurricane season will be quiet like the last few years but after dealing with the two years of hurricane hell I've learned that being well prepared is the key not having your life turned into total chaos after one. I'm dreading buying a few hundred gallons of gasoline for the generator again this year. I really want to switch to propane fuel but the cost of getting propane tanks installed is rather prohibitive.
